Lights & ceiling fan suddenly wouldn’t turn on with remote, tried another working remote and changing DIP switch settings with no luck, suspected receiver unit burned out.Both new receiver and remote/sender work good. Old receiver unit had “CWE” in part number, don’t know what the difference is between this unit and old unit but it works. New receiver’s aluminum spacer (grounding?) tabs made unit smaller diameter but I just bent them out to fit enclosure housing.Didn’t really need new remote but arrived faster than if I ordered receiver only from different vendor. New remote is bright white as opposed to old, yellowed remote so OK with extra cost.I have a much earlier version of this that is 30 years old it unlike this version also allows me to dim the lights they really need to update the electronics so the receiver could be smaller I was not able to put this in the canopy my fan if you do buy this with today's smaller motors you should be able to put it in the motor housing f you're wiring allows for itthe overall function of this beats all of the other remotes out there being able to set a temperature and allow the fan to go slower faster according to the temperature is excellent however it is not a smart device if that is what you're looking for but control of the fan is better than any other unit that I have tried.It works great, easy to install except was a tight fit.excelenteI had a friend help me with trouble shooting and installing this. Once we knew it was the receiver by direct wiring the fan and turning on the breaker - we sought out and found this one as replacement. The only function it doesn’t seem to have is reverse. That’s fine- much more important to have a functional fan in summer. Highly recommend instead of deep sixing your fan. Had to open the old ones up to clean the contacts about every 4 months for proper operationPerfect replacement for my old remote.I love having the ability to use my lights and fan with a remote. I'm often sick and in bed and can't get up to do the lights and fan myself. Unfortunately, it randomly turns on the lights or fan on it's own!! Freaky at first!! I still use it, but sometimes wake up to lights on or freezing as fan has turned itself on during the night. We live in a highrise condo...I often wonder if someone else has something on the same "frequency" ?Ordered this unit as it advertises it is a direct replacement for a Hampton Bay remote ... yes, I ordered the correct one with the orange button vs the blue. Well, it doesn't work ... I do know the fan works because I have the same setup in another room, changed the codes on that unit and it works fine, put those codes in this unit and it doesn't work ... so beware, it's not as advertised.Happily I can return to Amazon but a waste of time and effort to try something that isn't what the seller says it is.Perfect Replacement for my fan remote control. My original remote looked exactly like this one minus the reverse button. To get the exact same one I would have paid double the price which was odd to me. Programming is simple as you just look at the 4 key settings inside the battery compartment and match the new remote to the old one. Easy peasy!!The item arrived as promised.I was not sure I had the right item.An electrician installed the receiver in our 20 year old ceiling fan which works perfectly well but could not start because the old receiver was defective. I did not want to replace the ceiling fan since it is a very good one. (Cost me 120.00 $ for the electrician)The Kit received was a perfect fit for our Hampton Bay ceiling fan. Very happy!I have an older Hampton Bay Ceiling fan (Southwind V 52") that had dimmable lights. My remote died so I tried this one. The remote looks exactly the same as my old one except that it has the reverse function. The new remote works great! It has 4 pin settings just like my old one. The reverse doesn't work, but I am not surprised since it didn't work on the old one. Very happy with my purchase, and speedy delivery!
